 hank the cat is running for senate. i imagine a cat could do a better job than some of the jokers already in office. if cats ruled the world, there would be catnip, kibble and balls of string for everyone! naptime would be mandatory. oggi & otto are definitely friends of hank. go out and vote for hank!

 otto & oggi's daily menu each consists of half a can of wellness grain-free food in the morning and 2 1/2 ounces of rad cat raw turkey in the evening. sometimes, i'll throw in some random canned food for variety. otto & oggi had tiki cat manana luau for breakfast today.

 

this is what it looks like. kinda reminds me of trader joe's tuna for cats, but with more gravy and four pieces of shrimp...and four times the price! this tiki cat was $2.29 at pet food express. going by the loud smacking sounds, i think otto & oggi really liked it...especially the little shrimps. those were gone and the gravy licked clean. some shreds of tuna were leftover. too bad for them, i can't afford to buy this for everyday eating. anyway, seafood is just for every once in a while!

otto went to the veterinary medical teaching hospital at uc davis for his femoral head ostectomy (fho). we drove up on wednesday and met the vet (dr. larue) and the vet student (allison). i think this was her first fho. i left otto there and they ran a whole bunch of tests to make sure he was fit for surgery. the actual surgery was yesterday and he came home today. i'll bet he thinks it was the worst two days of his life so far. i can also say with confidence otto does not enjoy car rides. at. all. he has a little fentanyl patch on. that will come off in 4 days. hopefully, he feels better tomorrow. yeah, otto is pretty bummed.

 i am making little cat paintings to help pay for otto's surgery. the paintings are on #5 tags cause i like the way they look. but i think they are too nice to be used solely as tags. they look good altogether.

there must be a way for me to claim otto and oggi as dependents on my insurance and taxes. the sf spca's estimate for otto's FHO is $2,279.37-$2,950.25. i'm not really sure how surgery estimates work. why is there a low quote and a high quote? is the price of a scalpel going to change in the middle of the operation? how do you not know how much this shit costs? they do this with all special exams and i always end up paying more than the estimated "high" amount. of course, you only find out the final amount after all is said and done. i always feel like i'm dealing with a used car salesman...but worse, since this is about my cat friend. i really want to like the spca, but it's hard when they want to charge me to get a copy of the x-rays i just paid $350.00 for. that said, the vet that otto last saw is really great. but you have to ask for her by name or you might get someone who may not be as thorough.
